The holder of this new position will need to be highly organised and self- motivated

She/He will be based at 11 Garrick Street in the offices of the Royal Theatrical Fund.

Acting For Others(A4O) is the trading name of Combined Theatrical Charities, a fund-raising charity which has 15 member charities, all active in welfare for theatre workers of all kinds. 

Salary c£25,000 per annum

This is a full-time position, and at times there may be considerable evening activity required. 

At present, A4O has four main fund-raising activities each year:

1.     Annual Bucket Collections in almost every theatre in the UK during the last two weeks of October

 

2.     West End Bake-Off – a competition between West End shows for the best cakes, held for the past two years in the summer in St Anne’s Churchyard, Soho, open to the public

 

3.     The Spotlight Run, a fund-raising run in Regents Park, held for the past two years in September

 

4.     One Night Only at The Ivy, where famous actors are the maitre d’, bar and waiting staff.

To ensure that these, and any new initiatives, achieve their potential, the Administrator will need to take responsibility for:

Co-ordinating annual theatre collections across the UK

Researching theatre productions and shows in all UK Theatres. Keeping detailed records of all contacts on database and amounts raised.

Liaising between the theatre, company manager, producer and cast members to ensure complete support.

Ensuring all involved are thanked.

Collecting cash from some London theatres.

Preparing promotional materials

Promoting A4O and events through Social Media

Liaising with the PR company

Building and managing long term meaningful relationships with supporters and donors.

Maintaining confidentiality for high profile supporters.

Organising meetings, taking full Minutes, and ensuring follow-up

Maintaining close links with the charities and keeping them informed of all activities.

Reporting to the Chairman, Trustees, Fundraising Chairman and General Secretary.

 

This will require, among other attributes:

Excellent administration skills

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Good knowledge of Microsoft Office 2016.

Ability to prioritise across a range of projects as needed to meet tight deadlines

Dancers' Career Development is delighted to present the prestigious Society of London Theatre (SOLT) Bursaries for Musical Theatre Dancers. The bursary, worth £5,000, is available to support one professional dancer who has contributed significantly to London's West End through his or her performance career, to retrain into professions that are directly linked with the creative industries and in particular London's thriving theatre sector. Join us The Royal Theatrical Fund for our annual Christmas Festival at St Paul’s Church on Thursday 1st December, 6.30pm, and start the Christmas season in style with witty readings, much loved carols plus mulled wine and mince pies. In previous years we have been joined by the likes of Angela Rippon, Hugh Bonneville, Lesley Garrett, Simon Callow (to name but a few!) and many other wonderful performers from the West End. Gotta Sing! & The Phoenix Artist Club present the fourth in their series, the Search for the next Musical Theatre Star, “Talent 2016 Grand Final” on Sunday 9th October at 7.30pm at the Playhouse Theatre, London with all the proceeds going to  Acting for Others.  

The eleven finalists will compete to win £1,000 and a recording session, in front of a star-studded professional panel of West End leads and international Casting Directors. Previous judges have included Michael Ball, Elaine Paige, Savannah Stevenson and Kerry Ellis. Also appearing will be leading stars from West End shows such as Wicked, Beautiful, Motown and Aladdin to show us how it is done!

This year the WEST END BAKE OFF judges will be Michael Ball OBE, Dame Barbara Windsor and Christopher Biggins

In London’s West End you will once again be able to indulge in mouth-watering cakes and teatime treats. All baked by some of the West Ends biggest stage Shows.

The second West End Bake Off in aid of Acting for Others will be held at St. Anne’s Church Courtyard, London W1D 6AF from 11:00 to 13:00. All money raised will go to Acting for Others.

Last year 14 West End shows took part and £4000 was raised. Dame Barbara Windsor and Christopher Biggins judged the competition and The Mousetrap lifted there trophy. Elena is currently studying at Guildhall Music and Drama, and arranging music specifically for the concert to be performed by a 20 piece orchestra and singers from Guildhall. As a school project, West Heslerton primary school wrote a school play called "Carrie's Quest" and invited their parents along to see the performance. They kindly donated the money raised from the ticket sales to Acting for Others. They raised a fantastic £164. Thank you all so very much – you’re all little stars!

Caroline Harker and Clare Lumley are holding their second Christmas Sale in support of Acting for Others next Monday 23rd November. Having raised £1,500 last year, they are keen to even better this time round!

Caroline and Clare have a fantastic group of super-talented artisan makers selling all day from 10:00 to 20:00, as well as coffee, home-baking and a bread & soup lunch.
